NASHVILLE – Fisk University Volleyball Head Coach Jess Enderle announced this week that Nashville Overton High School Assistant Coach Tiana Dalton has decided to play her final year of eligibility for her program. Dalton, a transfer from the University of the Cumberlands, will continue her role at Overton while pursuing a degree in psychology and setting on the team.
“I saw Tiana at a tournament and asked her if she still wanted to play,” Enderle said. “She is a coach on the floor and will be able to teach our younger players. That will be important with us coming off year not playing. We are excited to have her.”
A very intriguing development to watch is, Dalton coached incoming freshman Kayla Taft at Overton. Dalton is excited about the opportunity to play again but understands the transition from coach to player may be a struggle at times.
“It feels good to get back on the court,” Dalton said. “I am happy to be playing close to home. My grandparents are particularly happy because they haven’t seen me play in a long time. Having Kayla be my teammate now will be interesting. I have to remember that someone else is her coach now. I have already been critiquing myself. I guess this will help me be nicer when I coach.”
