NASHVILLE – The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions extended their season-opening win streak to eight after a victory over the Fisk University Bulldogs. FHU held their opponents to 22 percent shooting from the floor in a 66-44 victory.
It was a 7-0 run to start the game for FHU (8-0) after Brooklyn Crouch dropped a 3-pointer at 7:57. Fisk was able to battle back with long balls, but the Satterly sisters scored the remaining points of the quarter with Rachel Satterly hitting three free throws with a 3-pointer from Jenna Satterly ending the first with FHU leading 13-10.
The Fisk (1-5) offense came up empty from the floor in the second period, with the only four points scored coming from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, FHU scored on a J. Satterly jumper before Lucy Curry hit a pair of free throws. Kaylee Odom followed with six points of her own. Crouch ended the half with a 3-pointer to see FHU extend their lead to 26-14.
Both teams exploded into the second half with offense. Both teams scored more in the third quarter than they did in the entire first half with FHU tallying 27 points to Fisk’s 19. FHU took advantage of a 10-point run near the end of the quarter with Lilly Kee tallying six points in a little under two minutes. Her free throw with 48 seconds left in the frame gave FHU their largest lead at 23. After a 3-pointer from the Bulldogs, FHU entered the final quarter leading 53-33.
Odom opened the final 10 minutes with a layup before Alaina Stiles scored five of FHU’s last 10 points to put a bow on the 66-44 win.
FHU out-rebounded Fisk 43-39 with the Lady Lion bench scoring 29 points to Fisk’s 11.
Jenna Satterly led FHU’s offense with 11 points, followed by 10-point efforts from Lilly Kee and Kaylee Odom. Odom also led at the glass with six rebounds and with a team-high four assists.

The Lady Lions will play against Faulkner on November 21 at 5:30 at the Brewer Sports Center before embarking on a seven-game road trip to close out 2023. They will return to Henderson to open Mid-South Conference play by hosting No. 20 Bethel on January 11.
