HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee Lady Flames won the 2020 GSC Women’s Cross Country Championship. They continued their impressive postseason streak by winning their fourth consecutive conference championship.
Celine Ritter won her second consecutive GSC Individual Championship. Her time of 17:01.68 is a conference record for the fastest time in GSC Women’s Cross Country Championship history. Her teammates Toni Moore, Danielle Horter, and Olivia McLain joined her in the top ten. Moore garnered her second straight First Team All-GSC selection.
The Lady Flames finished with 32 points, which was 21 points ahead of runner-up Mississippi College. This is the Lady Flames’ second-best point total since joining the GSC in 2015.
Caleb Morgan of Lee was named Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. He has led the Lady Flames to each of their four GSC Championships.
The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws finished in second place, which is their highest finish since returning to Division II. Sophomore Jazmin Hernandez ran her fastest race of the season and finished fifth. Madeline Campbell finished in tenth and garnered her fourth straight All-GSC selection. She’s been on the First Team and Second Team twice in her career.
Montevallo, Alabama Huntsville, and Union rounded out the top five.
Justine Glass of Montevallo finished in the top five for the third straight year. She finished in second place with a time of 17:35.52, and she garnered the third consecutive First Team All-GSC selection in her career.
Kaylee Stewart of UAH finished in third. The 2018 GSC Freshman of the Year earned her third straight First Team All-GSC selection.
Abigail Bergquist of Union finished in seventh. She was named First Team All-GSC for the second consecutive year.
