MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lady Lions basketball team (3-0) knocked off Florida College (3-2) 83-63 on Friday evening to win its first matchup in the Christian College Classic, hosted by Faulkner University.
The Lady Lions dominated the opening period, outscoring the Falcons 26-13 in the quarter. Florida College came fighting back, though in the second quarter, but FHU was able to take a 37-28 lead into the break.
The Lady Lions never waivered in the second half, outscoring Florida College 46-35 to close out the game. They shot over 57 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, while holding the Falcons to just under 39 percent.
Five Lady Lions scored in double-digits in the win, led by Alyssa LeMay who finished with 15 points. Caroline Chambers, Raegan Purvine and Hannah Hughes each finished with 13 points.
KJ White finished with 10 points, and nearly capped off the double-double with a career-high eight assists.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they face off against the hosts Faulkner University. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
