BRISTOL, Tenn. – Rikkelle Miller had a great season for the King University softball team as she can add another award to her collection. She was selected Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) second team All-America.
Miller becomes the first Tornado to be selected All-America by the D2CCA as she was previously the second individual to earn first team All-Southeast Region from the D2CCA. She also earned second team All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Along with that, Miller was previously selected first team All-Conference Carolinas and to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team.
Miller ranks 37th in NCAA Division II with a .751 slugging percentage, 39th with 72 hits, and 49th with 16 doubles. Her 16 home runs rank 15th in the country and her 52 runs batted in is good enough for 37th in the country. She also owns an OPS of 1.186.
She is second on the team with 18 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI games. This season she had a 16-game hitting streak and 28-game reached base streak. She helped King clinch a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title as she hit home runs in each end of a doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel College. In the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship, she hit a home run in the semifinal game to tie the game and the game-winning home run in the final, giving King the 1-0 win over Francis Marion University.
Miller set a school record for home runs and slugging percentage in a season with marks of 16 and .751. She drove a school-record 52 runs and posted a program-best 142 total bases. Her .381 batting average ranks seventh all-timer and her 72 hits ranks third all-time. She started 58 games, second-most all-time and her 46 runs scored is seventh on the all-time list.
