BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University director of athletics David Hicks has appointed Brandon Ellis as the interim head coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track & field.
“Over the last two years, Brandon has established himself as one of the top young assistant coaches in the Southeast,” Hicks said. “His knowledge of training strategies and his ability to relate to student-athletes has made him a key component of the success our programs have seen during his tenure. I’m confident that success will continue this year under his leadership.”
Ellis has served as an assistant each of the last two years, helping the cross country teams return to the top of Conference Carolinas. Each program finished runner-up at the 2020 championships that were run in January of 2021.
“I’m excited to continue King’s standard of excellence in our cross country and track & field programs,” Ellis said.
On the track, the Tornado had 19 individuals, nine men and 10 women earn All-Conference Carolinas honors over the last two years. Two of those were Conference Carolinas champions. Nine men and five women earned Academic All-Conference Carolinas honors while one garnered Conference Carolinas Scholar-Athlete of the Year and another was selected the recipient of the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 award.
Ellis was a captain of the cross country and track & field teams as Milligan College and was a three-time NAIA All-American in cross country and seven-time NAIA National Championships qualifier in track & field.
He graduated from Milligan in 2017 with a bachelor of history and bachelor of business administration in legal studies.
